Firebolt to prove too hot!
This Kiwi visitor let us down badly when we tipped him a few weeks' ago and he lost all chance with a tardy getaway. His barrier manners were back to normal last start and we're hopeful he'll be back to winning form tomorrow.
We reckon Firebolt confirmed himself as a horse with a big future at his first Australian run when he ran big numbers to romp away with a 1600 metre race at Doomben on 29 May when he led all the way from a wide barrier to beat Guderian by 2.5 lengths.
Since then, he's reared at the start at his next run and then set a blistering pace from a wide draw to hold on strongly for a 1.5 length second to Pennacchio in the 1600 metres listed Tattersalls's Classic at Eagle Farm on 26 June in race record time.
We're always on the lookout to give our VIP readers a bit of value and that of course usually necessitates some risk. With Firebolt tomorrow, he's up to 1800 metres for the first time, carries the steadier of 59kg and is drawn in barrier 11. These factors all mean that you shouldn't be asked to take a silly price tomorrow.
We feel Firebolt should lead easily and have enough class to outgun his rivals in tomorrow's field.
For those of you who might fancy an exotic in tomorrow's race, the Mug Punter suggests Pleasure Time, Jacaranda Charm, Puccini and Regal Gaze, all at long odds.
Electric Dreams kept the winners coming for the headline specials last week with a dominant win in Sydney.
This week's headline specials
Firebolt (Eagle Farm race 5)
Doubtful Jack (Flemington race 6)
Daytona Beach (Randwick race 4)

Lindsay's Lay of the Day
Lindsay steadied the ship last week when pre-post favourite and on-course drifter Our Lukas didn't feature in last week's Caloundra Cup.
Lindsay prefers to keep his lays for the better races over the various carnivals so he's got just one more for tomorrow before taking a few weeks' off prior to the big spring racing down south.
This week's lay is:
Eagle Farm race 4: Startsmeup

Another one to put you in the money!
He's now up to eleven winners from the last thirteen, so we reckon tomorrow's tip High Finance is very apt for those of you who have been following the wisdom of Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes over the last few months.
HIGH FINANCE (race 1 Randwick) is a promising Testa Rossa 2yo that races in the famous Gerry Harvey colours.
He ran strong numbers on debut then did a huge job last start when he missed the kick, got hustled up to sit three wide on the speed and still managed to beat third easily.
A confirmed 93 horse after two starts suggests this 2yo is way above average. In super with the claim for a talented apprentice, drawn to get the run of the race from the three gate and the step up to Saturday class should hold no fears.
He looks to give us a nice start to the day, for mine.

Rambling On to amble in!
The last race at Eagle Farm is a beauty tomorrow but the Mug Punter reckons he's uncovered some excellent $26 value with the Danny Williams-trained Rambling On.
This lightly-raced Testa Rossa 3yo began his Brisbane campaign with consecutive wins at the Sunshine Coast and Eagle Farm where he rattled home from well back on both occasions.
He then finished second to General Purple when he got too far back before flying too high when beaten 9.5 lengths behind Rothesay in the Queensland Guineas.
He's likely to get well back again in tomorrow's race but there looks to be stacks of speed which could well set it up for something coming from well back.
As a winner over the 1400 metres at Eagle Farm and with a win and two seconds from just three tries at 1400 metres, the Mug feels this horse presents good value at his current quote.
The Mug tipped Paprika when she returned to winning form three starts back and feels that another big run is impending tomorrow.
Blinkers go on for the first time, she needs a good track which she'll most likely get tomorrow and the Mug reckons the 1200 metres at Eagle Farm is just perfect (she's won two from three at the track).
She'll need a little luck from the ten barrier, but Katsidis is the boy for the job. All in all, the Mug is keen!
Fasdehere in race 2 is probably a little more of a speculator from the Mug tomorrow but he feels that this formerly promising 5yo who won three of his first five starts might be slowly regaining form this preparation.
He put a bit more zest into his last run after being trapped off the course at his previous run at Ipswich behind Fab Fevola. The Mug wouldn't be surprised to see him lead tomorrow and run a cheeky race at double figures.
After an excellent winter with several winners at juicy eachway odds, the Mug has hit a flat spot with placegetters over the last two weeks. This is the way it has to happen when you're chasing value but he reckons he's due!
