              Blaze away with this one!

The Glasshouse is a hugely open race at the Sunshine Coast tomorrow so we're looking to finish the Queensland winter carnival with some eachway value in the form of the Danny Bougoure-trained Blazing Hearts.

The last two runs of the Show A Heart gelding have been huge: two starts ago he charged over ther top of a class 6 field at Doomben in an effort that suggested he'd be making his mark in much better class.

And he proved that assessment correct next start when he jumped up in class to the Eye Liner to turn in an outstanding effort to be beaten 1.5 lengths after being trapped wide and still working strongly to the line in course record time behind Adnocon.

We're predicting he'll be up with the leading division tomorrow and it may be worth bearing in mind that he's a winner at his only start over the Sunshine Coast 1400 metres.

At around double eachway odds, we feel that Blazing Hearts provides nice eachway value in a very competitive race.

It was a winning day for the headline specials last week when Alittlebitofmonica got the bikkies in Sydney at a very decent $5.

This week's headline specials

Blazing Hearts (Sunshine Coast race 6)
Das Machen (Moonee Valley race 4)
Electric Dreams (Rosehill race 7)

               Lindsay's Lay of the Day

He got the fancied Rainbow Styling beaten last week but the knockers were proved wrong when Melito was allowed to do it her way in the Winter Stakes. Still, that's racing and you'd have to be mean of spirit to begrudge the Ryan-trained filly a breakthrough group 1.

Just the one lay on a difficult Caloundra Cup day tomorrow. Lindsay's still chortling after Frozone just failed by a nose to knock off Our Lukas
when that horse was his lay in the Ipswich Cup.

History repeated itself when Our Lukas won his second successive Ipswich Cup. Maybe it'll repeat again when  the horse fails at his next start in the Caloundra Cup.

This week's lay is:

Sunshine Coast race 7: Our Lukas

                        A genius tip!

With a name like Ironstein, you'd reckon there's a fair chance that he'd be a smart horse but one thing that we do know for sure is that Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes is one very smart boy. How else could he be sitting on a record of ten winners from his last twelve tips for his lucky VIP followers?

IRONSTEIN (Sunshine Coast race 7) may be coming off a peak run but it's hard not to like his form. This son of Zabeel has put some big numbers on the board of late and is relishing some ground.

He has gate speed and gets the run of the race from the one gate and goes around on the limit with only 53kg.

He is from the astute Gerald Ryan barn and the talented Michael Cahill takes the ride while his sectionals last start suggest the 2400m holds no fears.

At $5.50 pre-post he looks a fantastic eachway wager to finish off a great carnival, for mine.

                    The Mug is overdue!

It's been a good winter for the Mug, but he's gone for a fortnight without a winner so you can be sure he's pulling out all stops to avoid the hat-trick tomorrow.

He tells us he's keen on a return to the winning list by Sacred Orders in race 5 at Moonee Valley tomorrow.

This Gary Portelli-trained mudlark was taken to Melbourne for his second run from a break a fortnight ago. Although he was beaten 2.5 lengths by Pinnacles, the Mug reports that the trouble he struck at the 200 metres prevented him from finishing a lot closer.

Sacred Orders has drawn the one tomorrow, and his forward racing pattern should suit the tight Moonee Valley track. More importantly, says the Mug, he should be cherry ripe for tomorrow's assignment, bearing in mind that he was a third-up winner last preparation. At double eachway odds, the Mug will be investing.

Although he tipped the horse unsuccessfully last start, the Mug is giving Carrara one final chance in the Sunshine Coast Guineas (race 5) tomorrow.

The Elvstroem colt is down in class tomorrow and if he can capture form anywhere near that which saw him win the Stutt Stakes, he'll give the race a mighty shake. Remember, says the Mug, this is the very same horse that  pushed Denman on more than one occasion.

Carrara had a gut-buster first-up in the 10,000 and that run may have impacted on his last-start effort. He's had three weeks since the last run and it may be worth remembering that the horse loves rain-affected ground.

The Mug predicts Carrara will have no trouble scooting across from his wide barrier and will be there when the whips are cracking in the straight.

The Mug has his fingers crossed that the rain will stay away in Sydney tomorrow and present Informality with a track no worse than dead in race 6.

The Mug tipped this horse three runs back when he put away the smart Rothesay. He's been well beaten at his next two starts on a slow and a heavy.

Track conditions aside, the Mug feels everything is in order for Informality to feature at eachway odds tomorrow. He's won three from four at Rosehill, has two wins and a placing from four tries at 1400 metres and has won his only start over the course.

Keep your eye on the weather, as with four wins from five starts on a dead track and three unplaced runs on anything worse, the state of the track appears to be a key for this smart gelding.
