Each week, Lindsay will place a $50 win bet for a VIP member on the Best Bets  good thing of the day.

Best Bets Online can be accessed free by members  for a month when they enrol in the VIP Club.

This week's free bet winner is:

Gavin Wolfgram
Redhead (NSW)

Beaded
(Eagle Farm R7)

Good luck, Gavin!

The Mug Punter's value tips

 Ego's Dare
(Eagle Farm R6)

Happy Hippy

 Luminous Eyes

(Eagle Farm R8)

Ardeche the 'mail' in the Australia Post!

The Bart Cummings-trained filly Ardeche should deliver in the listed Australia Post Stakes (race 4) at Eagle Farm tomorrow after her sterling last start performance at the same track a fortnight ago where she made her first Brisbane appearance.

She settled midfield in a slowly-run race on that occasion and was really starting to ping at the end to go under by just over a length in a run that we reckon had the 'be on me next time' light flashing.

There should be no pace worries tomorrow with several widely drawn runners pushing across in search of the lead. This should leave Ardeche comfortably positioned getting a soft run perched in behind the speed.

We're predicting she'll be suited by the step up to 1400 metres and will be a great chance of racking up win number two from just three race starts.

Another bleak day last week for Whisper selections. Thankfully Mr Reliable was able to hold the day together with another Horsetorque win. Still, that's the way it is; we've been firing strongly for the last few months and you can't win all of the time. Let's hope the last group 1 of the season sees a return to more winning fortune.

This week's headline specials

Ardeche (Eagle Farm race 4)
Offenders (Flemington race 8)
Alittlebitofmonica (Randwick race 3)

               Lindsay's Lay of the Day

Our Lukas defied history to put our boy in the very rare position of having three lays get up in a row. Life can be tough sometimes when you're a big-time risk taker!

This week's lays are:

Eagle Farm race 5: Rainbow Styling

Eagle Farm race 7: Melito

                 Gavin hits double figures!

Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes took it to ten winners from his last twelve tips when Fab Fevola strolled in at Ipswich last week. His magical numbers suggest that the good things are hard to find in Brisbane tomorrow, so he's off to Adelaide in an attempt to keep his spectacular winning sequence on the boil for VIP followers.

HAPPY TRAILS (Morphetville race 4) was a big winner last start; he missed the kick and settled at the tail of the field before charging home to win with authority running good numbers for a 2yo.

He's drawn to get the gun run from the two gate  and he gets in well thanks to an astute claim for the in-form Claudia Lions

Looks a great chance on a day where the numbers suggest good things are hard to find.

Hippy to be on a high!

He hopes that there's more to its chances than just a hazy and fond recollection of a mis-spent youth but the Mug feels that the current $40+ quote about Happy Hippy is serious overs in the feature Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm tomorrow.

Happy Hippy
ventured to Brisbane after a listed win over 1400 metres at Randwick to fly home late for a 0.75 length second to Stryker in the 1350 metre group 3 BTC Classic.

The Mug suggests that you forget her next run when she was wide and held on to be beaten 3.3 lengths by Set For Fame in the group 2 Dane Ripper.

She's a winner at the 1400 metres and should get a nice midfield run tomorrow; don't be surprised if she gives you a thrill at a big price, warns the Mug.

The Mug feels that Ego's Dare is value at around double figures in the Healy Stakes (race 6) tomorrow.

This Gerald Ryan-trained gelding resumed three starts ago with a hugely impressive effort when he strolled home in the 1200 metre listed Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick on 24 April.

He was then transferred to Brisbane where's he's had two runs, the latest a rip-snorter where he flew home from the tail of the field to finish a 2.1 length third to the smart sprinters Catapulted and Border Rebel (with the latter making the form look pretty good at Gosford on Wednesday).

With three wins and four placings from eleven tries at the distance, and with a few doubts about some of the shorties in this race (according to the Mug), Ego's Dare presents nice upset value at the quote.

The Mug's final Brisbane tip in the last is the Peter Moody-trained Luminous Eyes.

Now he acknowledges that this one is a bit of a speculator, but suggests that you get on board if there's any betting support for this Irish mare.

The Mug thought she had improver written all over her after her first Australian run at Eagle Farm three weeks' ago when she showed pace to finish 5.5 lengths behind stablemate Set For Fame.

She's owned by Coolmore, is lightly raced and was up with the leaders off a scorching pace to run a short-head second to Glowing in a group 3 run over 1400 metres in Ireland at her second last run before emigrating.

The word is that she's improved hugely since her first run here and she might present a bit of exotic value in the last.
