Ghetto to blast 'em!
We're going for the Gold Coast-trained Ghetto Blaster as an eachway special in the group 2 WFA Victory Stakes (race 6) at Eagle Farm tomorrow.
A close scrutiny of this horse's record really does present a compelling case for his consideration in tomorrow's race: essentially, he's a course and first-up specialist.
He's raced six times over the Eagle Farm 1200 metres course for four wins and and a third. He's also had six first-up tries for four wins and a second.
Ghetto Blaster showed he's primed to resume strongly again with a short half-head win over Fifteen Carat in a 1000 metre Gold Coast barrier trial on 6 April.
We'll be very disappointed if he doesn't show up in tomorrow's race and we consider him strong value at eachway odds.
It was a nice return to racing by last week's Brisbane headline special Graceful Anna. As we suggested in last week's Whisper, if she didn't win first-up, stay with her. On the basis of her performance last week, we strongly suggest that you follow that advice.
This week's headline specials
Ghetto Blaster (Eagle Farm race 6)
Ready Miss (Hawkesbury race 5)
Johanski (Caulfield race 2)

Birthday Boy's Lay of the Day
He's being very sheepish about it, and has threatened dire consequences if we give his birthday news a run today, but what the heck, we're punters and we're used to living dangerously.
So the news is, it's a big birthday for Lindsay this weekend and it ends in a "0". And no, we won't reveal his age and jepordise his chances with those pretty young things that hang around his stand at the track. But if you're interested, he's still short of his allotted "three score years and ten". Fifty then, you ask? You've got to be kidding!
He was back to his best last week with both of his fancied lays missing out on a trip to the winner's stall.
This week's lays are:
Hawkesbury race 5: Renaissance
Hawkesbury race 6: Mentality

Pinwheel to roll on in!
Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes is shooting for a winning hat-trick with his VIP selections tomorrow and is very confident that Pinwheel will do the job for him in the second at Hawkesbury.
PINWHEEL (Hawkesbury race 2) is a beautifully bred 4yo by Lonhro out of a Danehill mare who has never been out of the quinella in any of his seven career starts.
He has a huge confirmed edge in the ratings, has the Snowden Darley polish, goes super first up and has the gate speed to cross and lead or sit right outside the leader.
Looks to have too much upside for these, for mine.

Be on the ready for Snow Alert!
The Mug Punter has a deadly record in feature mile races so it comes as no surprise that he's tipping Snow Alert as a great eachway chance in the Hawkesbury Rowley Mile (race 6) tomorrow.
For starters, and a necessary pre-requisite for the Mug's 1600 metre race selections, Snow Alert is developing as a specialist over the mile course with two wins from three tries at the distance.
As well, the Chris Waller-trained 4yo should be cherry ripe for tomorrow's assignment at his third run from a spell. He's run placings (beaten less than two lengths on each occasion) at his first two runs from a break as he's built up from 1200 metres to 1400 metres and now the step up to the mile.
But it's the quality of the horse's last run that's really got the Mug in when the horse worked home very strongly from well back to finish third to Bay Window who got away with easy early sectionals. The Mug suggests that the figures surrounding Snow Alert's finishing effort on that occasion left the "be on me next time" signal flashing.
At around double eachway odds in early markets, the Mug is very keen.
The Mug has been a long time admirer of the Danny Williams stable based in Goulburn and he reckons you should keep your eye on a Williams' horse starting in Brisbane tomorrow.
How Much My Love appears in race 5 at Eagle Farm where he comes off an unlucky performance behind Recoup De Fortune at Randwick last month.
The Mug suggests that it may well be worth bearing in mind that the horse, with three wins from four starts over the distance, is a 1400 metre specialist and that his past racing performances suggest that he'll be well suited by the month between runs as he comes into tomorrow's race.
In Melbourne, the Mug is gambling that Spirited Halo (race 7) might just be an above-average beast; he's always trying to steal the march on the general racing public by sussing out a handy horse before others are onto it, not always with overwhelming success, mind you.
The Mug recalls Spirited Halo bolting in with a Sale 2yo last June. He found it interesting that the Aldersons then stepped him up hugely in class by taking him to town where he firmed from $6 into $5 before finishing down the track behind Denman and True Persuasion on a heavy track.
He now resumes ten months later and the Bel Esprit 3yo is back into a Saturday city race. The Mug suggests that if there's any betting interest in the horse tomorrow, it may be wise to follow the money.
The Mug is having a hot run of success at the moment. He's coming off four winning weeks in a row with Yosei at over $20 his star performance in the Sires'.
Last week, Brisbane feature horse Border Rebel strolled in, with his other two value selections getting into places.
