 Mauries Pick
(Eagle Farm R3)

Bay Window
(Rosehill R8)

Chilled By Choice

             (Caulfield R8)

                   This one a dasher!

The Patinack horses have been winning everything lately and we're predicting the John Thompson-trained Shamardashing will add another one to the tally in race 5 at Eagle Farm tomorrow.

Shamardashing won a Sunshine Coast maiden at just his second race start when he flew home for a comfortable 2.5 length win over 1400 metres on 24 January.

He then made the journey to town where he motored home from last on the turn to finish a 1.1 length fourth behind Kneel and Raise over 1350 metres against the older horses at Doomben on 20 February.

He's back to 3yo company tomorrow, goes up just 0.5kg and steps up to 1500 metres on the roomier track.

There looks to be plenty of early speed in tomorrow's race and we can see this lightly-raced gelding finishing over the top of them.

Chakvetadze did the right thing by our headline specials last week, although we were hoping for a bit better than the $2.30 that they bet.

This week's headline specials

Shamardashing (Eagle Farm race 5)
Shoot Out (Rosehill race 6)
Velocitea (Caulfield race 6)

               Lindsay's Lay of the Day

Where does he keep the crystal ball, with the hottie Rangirangdoo going over last week, along with Lucky Secret finishing out of a place at Caulfield.

Followers of the 'lays' know that Lindsay has an unsurpassed record with his 'knocks'. He doesn't shirk the task and almost always selects high profile, well-backed horses that usually bite the dust.

And he's often against the tide as far as other pundits are concerned. Last week, for example on the corporate bookie mail page on Racenet, Betfair, Centrebet, Luxbet and Betchoice made Rangirangdoo or Lucky Secret their best bet or best backed runner of the day. Rangirangdoo was also the Racenet late mail special and a Bet Busters good thing.

Now we're not mentioning this to knock the other parties, because we've been around long enough to know just how quickly the tide can turn in this business. But we mention it to make the point that here in the Whisper, you can pick up worthwhile information (and it's free as well!) that isn't necessarily circulating elsewhere.

And he's not going to rest on his laurels this week either. In nominating Typhoon Tracy as poor value at her current long ods-on quote, Lindsay is predicting that she won't get as easy a run as last start and is up against a couple of tough performers with a bit of fitness and mile form on their side.

This week's lays are:

Rosehill race 3: Beijing Boy

Caulfield race 7: Typhoon Tracy

                  Saddle up to this one!

Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes is very keen to go on with the job this week and suggess that Sadalbari has all of the credentials to be the best of the day at Caulfield tomorrow.

If you haven't visited the Horsetorque site to suss out the new 'lite' version of their ratings yet, just click  the Horsetorque graphic below.

SADALBARI (Caulfield race 5) is absolutely flying at the moment and brings a huge confirmed edge in the ratings to this.

He is drawn to get the softest trip on the speed from the three gate in a race devoid of speed, drops a little in weight, is from a very astute barn and will relish the trip.

Just looks the winner for mine.

A 'window' of opportunity from the Mug!

If you can wait until the last race at Rosehill tomorrow, the Mug reckons that you'll be presented with a great opportunity to back a well-credentialled hope at around double figures in the form of the Glenda Markwell-trained Bay Window.

The Mug liked this 5yo's first-up run when he settled near the tail of the field over 1100 metres at Rosehill on 6 February before winding up late to finish up 4.3 lengths from the winner Griffon.

When you have a close look at this horse's form, you find he's no slouch. For example, at his last start before a spell he started favourite before finishing 3.25 lengths behind Rangirangdoo.

But it's a few other stats that's got the Mug in. Like a second-up record of a win and a second from two tries and a whopping 4.5kg weight drop from his last run.

And the other thing about tomorrow's race says the Mug is the complete lack of speed; it wouldn't surprise him if Bay Window is the one that ends up in front and able to do it on his own. All in all, a nice eachway hope at double figures, says the Mug.

In Brisbane, the Mug is tipping Mauries Pick as an eachway hope in a competitive race. He backed this horse last week and reports that the horse travelled strongly but just didn't get a go at them at any time in the straight.

He's got the in-form David Browne aboard and should get a nice sit behind the leaders from his good draw tomorrow. His previous run was a beauty and this horse is another one who should give a sight at double figures.

The Mug's Melbourne tip tomorrow is a bit of a speculator at around $31. He's predicting that the lightly-raced Chilled by Choice could be an improver in the 1800 metres eighth race at Caulfield.

With only three runs under his belt, the Redoute's Choice 3yo colt met with some support at his first run this time in before leading from the 800 metres and holding on for a three length fifth behind Encosta Belief over 1400 metres at Flemington on 16 January.

He then ran good closing sectionals before finishing a 6.5 length fifth to Denman, again over 1400 metres.

He jumps up to 1800 metres in a race tomorrow that has no real stand outs in it, and the Mug is prepared to risk a little something at the odds that this well-bred 3yo might be able to make the improvement to finish in the money.

It was one winner from two tips (after scratchings) last week when Patronyme easily won the last at Randwick, although the Mug wasn't too fussed on the $3.40 odds.
