THE MONDAY REPORT
The Doomben Betting Report - Saturday 20 February 2010
Race 1 – Tabulate $3.60, Honour Happy List $3.60 and Regal Castanea $3.80
This first race winner Tabulate finished up being the best backed runner and I laid one bet of $12,000 to $4,000 about him. He started at $3.60 and was still being backed at that price when they jumped.
Money came for Regal Castanea late in betting, but the ex Kiwi galloper Tabulate was too strong, so we started off on the wrong leg.
Race 2– Heartsareforlove $1.90, Random Orbit $4.80 and Goldcat $14.00
Heartsareforlove won very impressively at Doomben on 6/2/10 when leading, but last Saturday she had to come from behind. She only just got there, but whilst there was some money for her on the phones, but it wasn’t big money.
There was a bit of money late in betting for Random Orbit, so the only two that met with any support ran the quinella, but I don’t know how far they’ll go in their respective careers.
Race 3 – Casholet $3.20, Sirena Ligera $12.00 and Dance Girl Dance $6.00
This winner Casholet eased to $3.20/$3.30 late in betting and the other favourite Daddys Little Girl got to $3.20 then shortened up. I laid one bet of $10,000 on Daddys Little Girl.
There was no money for anything else in the race, so it was a race that you could have won or lost on.
Race 4–Kneel And Raise $10.00, Black Morgan $14.00 and Telesto Warrior $3.30
Toowoomba galloper Kneel And Raise won this race and gave us a good result as there was no money for him, as all action revolved around Telesto Warrior who was very well backed. We bet $3.80 early doors and he finished up running at $3.30 due to there being a lot of cash money around the ring for the horse.
Johnnieontherocks was extremely well backed and I laid a couple of $5,000 bets on the horse, amongst others, so there was plenty of money for him around the place, but he didn’t fire.
I also laid a $5,000 bet on Chastelain at $10.
Race 5 – Jazz Heart $4.40, Raincoat $7.00 and Gold Rating $11.00
This winner Jazz Heart was the best backed runner and he firmed from the $5 that was given in places, to run at $4.40 and even that was hard to get at the finish, as money arrived for him on the phones. The biggest single bet I laid on the horse was $4,000 but there were plenty of people who wanted to have their hard earned on the horse and his win created a nasty result.
I laid a bet to lose $50,000 on Pride Of Power so that helped marginally with the Jazz Heart losses. There was no money about for any other runner.
Race 6– Chakvetadze $2.30, Red Sphere $4.60 and Charming Rogue $5.00
Chakvetadze was always solid in betting around the $2.30 mark. The biggest single bet I laid on her was one of $10,000 - just before they jumped.
Red Sphere was backed from $5.50 into $4.60 but he ran second – and none of the others in the race were backed, so you could only lay the two horses in the race and they ran the quinella creating another bad result for fielders.
Race 7 – Our Mr Cashman $4.40, Show A Lion Heart $12.00 and Unica Bahaya $3.20
Again in this race the best backed runner got home when Our Mr Cashman saluted. As much as $5.50 was bet in places around the ring before the horse ran $4.40 and even that $4.40 was hard to get at the finish. Whilst there wasn’t any real big money for the horse, there were several $2,000 bets around the ring for the horse.
Unica Bahaya was the first horse backed in the race and money came on the phones for her soon after betting commenced. She firmed up from $4 into $3.20 with all the support and she was probably a bit unlucky the way the race was run, so she would seem to be the one to follow out of the race.
There was no money for Falvelina and after easing in betting, she never got in the call.
Race 8 – Age Of Heroes $4.20, Lifebuoy $4.20 and Cat Eyes $4.80
Last race winner Age Of Heroes ran the favourite. $4.40 was given and he ran $4.20 and that was hard to get at the finish.
Lifebuoy was also well backed at $4.40 so the two best backed runners fought the finish out.
Friday Nights was specked at odds.
So on the day it finished up punters one and bookies two.
Lindsay will be fielding this week at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, Ipswich on Friday, back to Eagle Farm on Saturday and the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
