Third time lucky!
She's been beaten at her last two but we'll be very surprised if Chakvetadze doesn't bounce back big-time into the winners' circle in the sixth race at Doomben tomorrow.
It was such a pity to see her seven-straight winning streak come to an end two starts back when she pulled ferociously in the lead for a 2.2 length sixth to Plain Magic over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm on 23 January.
It was then to the other extreme when she finished strongly from last to finish second to the same horse when giving away weight as well as a start.
But it should all fall into place tomorrow with a 150 metre jump in distance to 1350 metres and a drop of 3kg on what she carried last start with the claim for the hot apprentice Tim Bell.
With Red Sphere going for four straight and Charming Rogue sure to be suited by the improved weight conditions, blinkers and likely track conditions, Chakvetadze should not be at a silly quote in tomorrow's race to give us a chance to make up the leeway from last week's headline special wipeout.
We were confident going into last weekend's racing about the prospects of our three headline specials. The prices were right but unfortunately, close enough is not good enough, with Gergis finishing second in Sydney at $5 and Offhanded running third at $4.20 at Moonee Valley. As for Chameleon in Brisbane, surely that wasn't the real horse.
This week's headline specials
Chakvetadze (Doomben race 6)
Key West (Rosehill race 3)
Gold in Dubai (Caulfield race 2)

Lindsay's Lay of the Day
Well he bounced right back last week when both Extra Zero and Wanted found the task beyond them.
And he's back at it again full bore this week with, surely not, Rangirangdoo on his list again, certain that the hard first-up run on the wet and a greater depth of competition this time will mean poor value for what is sure to be a short-priced favourite.
Remember Lindsay, there's a very fine line between genius and idiocy!
This week's lays are:
Rosehill race 6: Rangirangdoo
Caulfield race 8: Lucky Secret

Denman dynamite for Horsetorque!
He's not expecting a gold bike for tipping it but Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes is suggesting the Snowden colt should be a 'put in and take out' job at Caulfield tomorrow.
Horsetorque has just released a new "lite' version of their ratings for Saturdays that is tipping the place down. Gavin's got an introductory special in place, so if you'd like to know more, just click onto the Horsetorque graphic below.
DENMAN (Caulfield race 5) needs no introduction; he has won eight from ten and over $1 million in stakes.
He's taken a while to run time but has done so at his past two and done it in style. He has won two from three here at the Heath and is unbeaten at the trip.
Drawn perfect in the four gate and just looks the winner for mine.

A speedy gift from the Mug!
Well, here's hoping so, anyway. Although after his blank last week, we're looking for an improved performance from our old punting mate tomorrow. However, he does urge his followers to stay with Light Fantastic from last week, suggesting that the jockey's ride may have been a little on the 'exuberant' side.
For tomorrow's value Melbourne tip, the Mug is suggesting you have a hard look at Speed Gifted in the 1800 metre St George Stakes. This classy English import won three of his first four Aussie starts last preparation, including the group 1 Metropolitan at Randwick in October.
He has spectacular first-up form with three wins and a third from four first-up tries. (But then again, Light Fantastic hadn't been out of a place first-up until last week, either!)
He won first-up in Australia over the mile at Flemington last preparation, suggesting that the 1800 metres first-up won't necessarily be a problem tomorrow.
The Mug can't see a lot of speed in tomorrow's race. La Rocket should do it in front easily and Speed Gifted should be in the first half of the field from where he feels the winner will most likely come.
The Mug is banking on Patronyme to maintain her unbeaten first-up record in the last at Rosehill tomorrow.
She's three from three first-up and is a duck as far as wet tracks are concerned. The Mug reckons she'll get an easy lead in a race with little apparent speed in it and be hard to get past in the straight. Jockey Corey Brown has an impeccable record aboard her with two wins and two seconds from four rides.
The Mug is going for a real speculator with his Brisbane roughie tomorrow. He's gone for 3yo filly Racing Pegasus to show up in the seventh race.
She looked like she could have been anything back in 2008 when she won her first two starts impressively as a 2yo. Unfortunately she went amiss in Phelan Ready's Magic Millions when she was well in the market.
She resumed recently after over a year off when she showed pace before being eased out of the race won by Captain Sonador at Doomben on 6 February.
We don't like the look of where this is taking us, Mug old boy!
Yes, it's not looking good, says the Mug, but the horse did subsequently easily win a 900 metre Deagon barrier trial this week on a slow track, the tongue tie goes on for the first time tomorrow and the horse should be in the leading division which will be an advantage over the 1200 metres at Doomben if the track is wet.
We'll see, Mug, we'll see.
