THE MONDAY REPORT

The Doomben Betting Report - Saturday 6 February 2010

Race 1Honour Happy List $5.00, Tripitz $14.00 and Regal Castanea $4.40

The first race was won by Honour Happy List and she is an improving mare, who won quite convincingly at the finish, albeit Tripitz was running on strongly late.

Woorim was well backed in this race. As much as $2.70 was given in places early doors about his chances before he started at $2.40/$2.50.

There was some specking for Regal Castanea.

It wasn’t a big betting race to start the proceedings, but nevertheless it was a winning race for bookmakers.

Race 2 Heartsareforlove $6.50, Pinnacle Ridge $5.50 and I’llbetricked $7.00

Sydney visitor Heartsareforlove won race 2. Money came for her on the phones and she firmed up from $8 into $6.50.

I laid one large bet on Pinnacle Ridge, which, if successful, would have taken out $50,000.

The favourite More More More wasn’t easy to lay and drifted from $1.80 to even money. He’s now destined for the spelling paddock.

It was a poor quality race and probably the winner was unknown and was simply better than them.

Race 3Monashee Dancer $1.60, Perugin Thought $7.00 and Carry The Clubs $6.00

$1.90 was given in places about this winner Monashee Dancer and he was well backed, to the point where I laid several $10,000 bets on him during betting. He just lasted, much to our disappointment. I think the second horse was unlucky not to have won the race though, as the jockey got a bit lost, as he could have been in a bit better positioned early, but didn’t elect to follow through.

There were no other runners backed in the race, so we only stood out the one horse.

Race 4Tolart $4.80, Mauries Pick $17.00 and Gold Rating $4.80

This winner Tolart firmed from $5 to run at $4.80 and he was solid at that figure as they jumped. He was particularly well backed on the phones.

Money came late for Gold Rating at $4.80, and there was some money for Bretonneux, but he had every chance.

Mr Nappy was specked.

It was a wide betting race and finished up a losing race when Tolart won narrowly.

Race 5Red Sphere $3.00, Charming Rogue $3.50 and Pertinence $7.50

Red Sphere got to $3.30 in places around the ring before cash money arrived for the gelding.

Charming Rogue was the first horse backed and eased to $4.20 in betting before the money came for him and he finished up starting at $3.50.

You could only lay the two runners in the race and they ran the quinella, with daylight third, so it was a losing race.

Race 6Plain Magic $3.60, Chakvetadze $2.60 and Inanna $21.00

Plain Magic continued her purple patch of form by getting home first again here. She puts herself in the right position and it was a good ride by Byrne. In saying that, I’d still rather walk out the front gate with Chakvetadze who was the best backed runner in the race. I laid a $5,000 and a $10,000 wager on her during betting. It is also fair to say she was the best run in the race, as she went back to last early and finished up giving what turned out to be an impossible start to the winner. She’s certainly back to her best on this run.

Kryptelon was backed at $3.60 but was disappointing.

It was a winning race.

Race 7 Royalaz $11.00, Joint Chiefs $4.80 and Cat Eyes $8.00

This winner Royalaz was specked around the ring at $12.

Both Cat Eyes and Joint Chiefs were impossible to lay.

Attallus was specked at long odds.

I laid one large bet on Firedrake at $6, whilst Samtheflirt was specked at $21.

Silvern finished up being the best backed runner in the race and he firmed from $8 into $5, with several big bets layed on him on the way in.

Race 8Captain Sonador $8.50, Falvelina $4.40 and Huckleberry Dane $10.00

Captain Sonador has always been a promising horse, but he’s certainly found his niche now. He was one of the best backed runners of the day and I laid one bet to lose $80,000 late in betting at a quote of $9.

Falvelina was well backed also and firmed from $5 into $4.40.

Huckleberry Dane had some specking, whilst Show A Lion Heart was backed on the phones.

There was no money about for Bevagna.

Purr Of Glory was well backed also in the race, so it finished up a fair betting race, but the late money that arrived for the winner, created a nasty result on the race – and also turned it into a losing day overall.

Lindsay has a busy week coming up, as he will be fielding at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, Ipswich on Thursday, the Sunshine Coast on Friday and Eagle Farm on Saturday.
