Here's to a winning 2010!
After a winning 2009 for VIP Club members, Lindsay is keen to give his clients more of the same during the coming twelve months. And he's already thinking of new and better ways to service his clients to add to the giveaways, betting promotions and hot tips he's provided in the past, so stay tuned.
We're hoping that it'll be deja vu for our Brisbane headline special Encosta Tszyu in race four at Doomben tomorrow.
We tipped this fellow at his third run from a break last time in and he duly saluted at $5 for us. We noted then that he'd won at his third run in at his previous preparation and now we're hoping that a victory tomorrow will make it three third-up wins in a row for him.
But there's more than just that winning stat in his favour tomorrow.
He's got the best winning mile record in the race, boasting a 50% winning record, with two wins from four tries at the distance and he's won one from two over the course.
There looks to be plenty of speed in tomorrow's race and that will suit his get-back style.
He's in hugely well at the weights with just 0.5kg over the minimum after the claim by smart apprentice Timothy Bell.
We suggest you completely disregard the horse's last run at the big Gold Coast meeting where he drew wide at a track that just doesn't suit his racing style.
Our headline specials have proved a real money spinner since we introduced the three-state special format last August.
During that time, we've given 40 selections for 14 wins, seven seconds and four thirds - that's a winning strike rate of 35%.
The average winning price has been just a few cents short of $4, to produce an excellent profit on turnover of 37%. And to think that you get it for free - surely Lindsay's got more money than sense!
This week's headline specials
Encosta Tszyu (Doomben race 4)
Offhanded (Randwick race 8)
Macedonian (Flemington race 3)

Lindsay's Lay of the Day
We know that he's built an absolutely imposing record with his lays, but we're wondering whether he's had too much summer sun over the last month, because he's straight back into knocking two of the biggest shorteners in this week's Flemington markets.
This week's lays are:
Flemington race 5: Extra Zero
Flemington race 6: Starspangledbanner

Aye, aye, Captain!
The VIP Club is pleased to announce the return of astute judge Gavin Haynes of Horsetorque for another stint as our guest tipster. Regular readers know only too well how often the winners roll in with Gavin's tips and he's very keen to kick the new year off with a smart one from the Moody stable that Gavin predicts is really going places.
CAPTAIN COLTISH (Flemington race 2). This well bred 4yo from the astute Moody yard looks to be very talented.
His two runs back from a lengthy spell have been top notch; he won by panels resuming at Mornington in very slick time and then looked most impressive with a scintillating win at Moonee Valley. His time and sectionals in that were those of a galloper going places.
He does rise in class in tomorrow's race but drops 4kg, Luke Nolan rides, he gets to sit right on the speed in a race that lacks genuine pace and looks ready to peak third up.
He's a smart horse on the way up, for mine.

Irish to make light work of it!
Fortified with the memories of a month-long sojurn where he sampled the best of what the Gold Coast has to offer, the pumped-up Mug Punter has plunged headlong into the toughest race of the day by selecting Irish Lights as his value Melbourne tip in the Lightning stakes at Flemington tomorrow.
Now he knows that he's been influenced by his winnings from her three straight wins last preparation, but the Mug reckons that there are a few little pointers suggesting that Irish Lights could well be a blow-out chance tomorrow.
He points out that she has a great first-up record with a win and second from two tries and reminds readers that she won first-up last preparation down the Flemington straight over 1100 metres.
And just for extra, her jockey tomorrow is Glen Boss who is unbeaten on his three previous rides on the filly.
In Brisbane, the Mug is going for Rebounded to do just that in the third race at Doomben tomorrow.
He went out hard and collapsed in a heap over 1800 metres last start at his third run from a break but drops back to a more suitable 1600 metres tomorrow, a distance at which he's won twice.
The Mug was taken with his previous run where he led and fought on well for a close second to La Zeel over a mile at Doomben and is using that run as a reference point for Rebounded's chances tomorrow.
We're absolutely certain that he's no Boy George fan, but that hasn't stopped the Mug from going for the Snowden-trained Chameleon as a value chance in race 6 at Randwick tomorrow.
Chameleon is one of those interstate transfer Snowden horses that always bear watching.
She's done all of her racing in Melbourne where she's had nine starts for two wins and four placings; it's interesting to note that she's started favourite for six of those runs.
She's had two runs this time in and according to the Mug has given an indication that she'll be spot on for the jump up to 1600 metres tomorrow.
Throw in that she drops a big 4.5kg from her last start Flemington run and the Mug suggests she's cherry ripe to make rapid improvement.
