THE MONDAY REPORT

The Eagle Farm Betting Report - Saturday 28 November 2009

Race 1Currumbin Rock $3.70, Bradfield $6.50 and Channel Crossing $21.00

The opening race on Tatts day was won by Currumbin Rock who ran the favourite and he was heavily backed on the phones at $3.70.

The other runner that you could lay for money was Red Amigo, so we could only lay two runners in the race and kicked off the day on a losing note when Currumbin Rock got home.

Race 2Marking Time $4.60, Norocos $21.00 and Rapid Leica Dane $19.00

Good money came late in betting for this winner Marking Time at $4.80.

Some punters were happy to take the $1.50 about the odds-on favourite Slice And Dice, so once again in this race, as happened in the first, you could lay two runners, but most bookmakers found this race hard to win on in the wash up.

Race 3Moon Chaser $7.50, Forbes $16.00 and Never You Mind $26.00

Lucky Toss was an easing favourite in this event at $3.60 and there was no money for her at that price.

Gather was well specked around the ring following her Murwillumbah Cup win on Monday.

Under The Counter attracted good support on the phones and last Saturday’s second placegetter Fort ‘nWon also met with phone support, but he was trapped wide early, in a fast run race, which didn’t help his cause.

It was generally a winning race for bookies.

Race 4Deception Bay $12.00, Woorim $2.90 and I’m Ruthless $11.00

Woorim, the favourite was hard to lay and got out to $3 late. He did hit the line well.

Topweight Jazz Heart was backed at $12 and good money arrived for him on the phones as well.

There was also money around the ring for both Punch Up and Brigadoon Star, so we laid a few in the race and even though the favourite wasn’t heavily backed we got a result when Deception Bay won first-up, something he hadn’t done in six prior first-up attempts.

Race 5Princess Qualo $3.50, Temple Of Boom $4.80 and Tierqualo $15.00

This winner Princess Qualo was one of the best goes all day in the Eagle Farm ring. We opened her up at $4 and there was a continuous flow of money for her right throughout betting and she firmed to run $3.50 at the jump.

Last start winner Temple Of Boom attracted good support also and he was well backed late in betting at $4.80.

Nothing outside of Princess Qualo or Temple Of Boom had admirers, so this finished up a nasty result for bookmakers.

Race 6Drenalin $4.00, Millers Wheel $21.00 and Gobou $3.20

This race was won by the improving Drenalin and he was by far the best backed runner in the race and firmed up from $5 into $4, creating the second nasty result in a row on the day.

If the favourite Gobou is reportedly “the best horse to come out of Rockhampton in the last ten years”, then the rest must be pretty ordinary. He was unlayable at $3.20 and no money arrived either in the ring, or on the phones, for the gelding.

There was no money about for last start winner Casholet either, the end result being that the winner was backed off the map and won easily.

Race 7Conquering Queen $9.00, Fuhrnatic $41.00 and Dance Girl Dance $11.00

Sydney visitor Conquering Queen won this race. I suggest that there will be cheap commissions happening at the Ascot Securities stockbroking firm this week, as the major owner of Conquering Queen, Mr Smith, runs that business. She went straight to the front, put a gap in them and won easily. I guess her wide alley turned most on course punters off her, but some money did come for her late on the phones, so some bookies did have bad results on her.

Whilst there was no big money for Visa Lisa, there was still consistent general public support for her in the ring.

On paper the race looked hard – and that’s the way punters viewed it, so it was a hard race to hold much money on.

Race 8Secrets Untold $5.50, Humma $21.00 and Pepperwood $4.60

The last winner Secrets Untold firmed from $6 to run $5.50. Money came for him on the phones and every rails bookmaker laid the horse well.

There was some money early in betting for Pepperwood, even though he officially eased in the market.

There was some good bets laid on Daedalus around the ring at $12 and Sam’s Express attracted interest on the phones at $7.

Neither of the last start metropolitan winners Zaha’s Pride or Our Lukas attracted any support.

So the last race was no good to bookmakers when Secrets Untold won and it finished up a mixed day, with some bookmakers winning and others losing.

Lindsay will be fielding this week back at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, Ipswich on Friday, Doomben on Saturday and the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
