                         Jasminka to kick on!

We looked long and hard for a good thing in Brisbane tomorrow and we're hoping we've uncovered a form line that confirms that former Kiwi mare Jasminka just might be a horse going places.

She's had just the two starts in Brisbane for a "be on me next time" third over 1100 metres at Doomben before an odds-on annihilation of a class 4 fillies and mares race over 1500 metres at Eagle Farm on Melbourne Cup day.

Now she's up in distance to 1600 metres and up in class to a Saturday class 6 tomorrow, but we reckon we've found a run which confirms that this mare will finish up in much sterner stuff than tomorrow's race.

We're referring to her first Australian run before a long spell in 2008 when she ventured across the Tasman to run in the group 3 Silver Shadow. She drew wide on that occasion and sat wide and near the tail before getting home strongly for a 1.3 length sixth to Samantha Miss. Not a bad pointer to her chances in Saturday class in Brisbane, you'd think.

We think she'll get the run of the race tomorrow and with top jock Larry Cassidy doing the steering, we're looking forward to Jasminka giving a great sight in the fifth at Eagle Farm, possibly at around eachway odds to boot.

Our interstate headline specials for this week are Cinecitta (race 2 Sandown) and Whitefriars (race 7 Rosehill).

Super Spring Second Chance

Each week, we'll nominate a Brisbane race where for all win bets up to $100, if your horse runs second, Lindsay will give you a free win bet of the same value in the last Brisbane race.

For tomorrow's racing, you will earn your free bet if your horse runs second in Brisbane race 5 (for win bets up to $100).

If you're at the track, keep your losing ticket and present it when you have your free win bet to the same value in Brisbane race 8. Phone bettors just need to ring in and identify yourself to receive your free bet in race 8. Good luck to those second-place getters in race 5 tomorrow. Let's hope you can go one better with Lindsay's money in race 8!

Lindsay's Lay of the Day

Rosehill race 4: Sikka

Sandown race 8: Spirited Halo

Fifteen Carat to get the gold!

He's been racing without much luck over the last month but Horsetorque's Gavin Haynes reckons he's got a gilt-edged bet at eachway odds in Brisbane for his followers tomorrow.

FIFTEEN CARAT (Eagle Farm race 1)  is a promising Show A Heart 3yo who had absolutely no luck two starts back at the Gold  Coast and probably should have won.
He came to town last start and flashed home from the tail to finish fourth in very quick time rating 96.

The step up to 1400 metres suits ideally and with only 53kg, he gets his chance to finish over the top of them.
Tough gate a slight concern but he gets back anyhow and we get Stathi on board.

At $6 pre post, he looks a great eachway bet for mine.

                  Ortensia in the west!

He doesn't like tipping a non-winner over the distance in a feature mile race but the Mug Punter feels that gun mare Ortensia is cherry-ripe to peak and has the class to represent huge value at her current price of twice eachway value odds.

Ortensia
has raced without luck at her three starts this time in, being held up for clear going on each occasion. There should be no such problems in tomorrow's race. Although drawn wide, she should get a nice cart across behind speed runners drawn outside her and should end up perched behind the speed away from the fence.

It was only a few months back that this horse was being touted as the "best mare in Australia" and she'll have a great opportunity to step up to the mark tomorrow at what could well prove to be over-generous odds.

The Mug's gone for some big $50 value with his Melbourne selection tomorrow. He reckons Fire Vain is miles over the odds at that quote and won't know herself when she carries 50 kg after two nice runs for thirds at Albury with huge weights since resuming.

His value radar is running warm at the moment after getting two of his three value selections into places at double figure odds last week; he's hoping Fire Vain won't be in vain tomorrow!

He hopes he's not going off one run too early with his Sydney tip Palacio De Cristal tomorrow.

Gee it was a big run first-up when she was held up to storm to the line in the fastest 400 metres of the race for a 2.6 length to Logan's Choice over 1200 metres at Randwick on 7 November.

This mare has a touch of class about her. She beat Purple in the 1700 metre Moet and Chandon at Flemington during the 2008 spring, has won her only other start over 1300 metres and is a winner of one from two second-up.

At a likely double eachway odds quote, she's worthy of an interest, according to the Mug.
